FAST PLAY

The Fastest Way to Win from the Maryland Lottery

What are FAST PLAY games?

A new category of games similar to scratch-offs but without the scratching, FAST PLAY games come in a variety of themes and price points. Each game has its own play instructions printed on the ticket of how to win and its own prize structure. FAST PLAY games first went on sale on February 10th, 2020. New games are released every few months.

How do you play FAST PLAY games?

FAST PLAY games play like scratch-offs, but no scratching is needed! Once players purchase a FAST PLAY game, they must follow the game instructions and see if they have won according to the game rules. See the “How do players know if they have won” section for examples of game instructions.

How many FAST PLAY games will be on sale?

At the beginning, the Maryland Lottery introduced $1 Piggy Bank Bucks, $2 Cherry Twist, $3 Treasure Chase, $5 Hit $250 and $10 Lucky Numbers. The $10 ticket will include a Progressive Jackpot. Please see the “Progressive FAST PLAY Games” section. Approximately every three months, new FAST PLAY games will be introduced in the market with different themes and play styles. The Lottery expects that the total number of games available will be 12–20 at a time.

How much can players win on FAST PLAY games?

Top prizes range from $1,000 to over $250,000. There are also Progressive games where the jackpot grows until a player wins. Please see the “Progressive FAST PLAY Games” section.

How do you sell FAST PLAY games?

Selling the game is as easy as playing it! When a player asks for a FAST PLAY ticket, just press the “Games” key on the terminal, as you would any draw game. Then select “FAST PLAY” from the menu of draw games. All available FAST PLAY tickets will be displayed on the terminal screen and the LIMs monitor, sorted by price. Once a ticket is chosen, press the key for that game and the ticket will be immediately printed just like a draw game ticket.

If you have a Lottery vending machine, the player will have three options: “Draw Games,” “Scratch-off Games” and “FAST PLAY Games.” When “FAST PLAY” is selected, the menu of FAST PLAY games will be displayed, sorted by price. The player will simply select the game they want, and the ticket will print.

The menu of tickets on sale is automatically updated on the PHD and monitor screens.

Will there be any advertising to support FAST PLAY?

There will be an extensive marketing campaign to create consumer awareness and drive playership with these new games. Your District Manager will be delivering several pieces of point of sale, so please help your customers by posting these pieces in a prominent position. There will also be mass media advertising, including TV and radio commercials, out-of-home, social media and more.

How do players know if they have won?

Players just follow the rules on the game to see if they are a winner.
Here are some examples of FAST PLAY games:

  • Piggy Bank Bucks
    $1 Piggy Bank Bucks
For this game, when any of a player’s numbers match the winning number for that game, they win a prize shown under the matching number.
  • Cherry Twist
    $2 Cherry Twist
On this game, a player must get three identical symbols in the same horizontal spin to win the prize shown. If a player receives a cherry symbol, they automatically win the prize shown on that spin.

A player can use the ticket checker at their Lottery retailer or use the Maryland Lottery mobile app to verify if the ticket is a winner.

Will there be any retailer incentive programs?

Look for a potential retailer incentive program. For more information, talk to your Lottery sales assistant or District Manager.

Progressive FAST PLAY Games

Some FAST PLAY games feature progressive jackpots, where the jackpot grows until a progressive jackpot-winning ticket is sold. The Progressive Jackpot increases every time someone buys a ticket and the jackpot isn’t won — so it keeps growing until someone wins it.

Players can check the current estimated FAST PLAY progressive jackpots at mdlottery.com/fastplay, on the Lottery’s mobile app or on the store’s LIMS monitor near the register. It will also be displayed on all Maryland Lottery Vending Machines. The progressive jackpot will be updated approximately every 15 minutes. After the top prize is hit, the progressive jackpot will go back to the starting amount for the game and the cycle will begin again.
