On Aug. 23, 2021, the Lottery began offering a $1 Double Play add-on feature. This gives players a second chance to win on their Powerball tickets. SCRATCH-OFFS

INSTANT TICKETS, also known as scratch-offs, were first introduced in 1976. Similar to today’s instant ticket games, the first scratch-off launched in Maryland provided players with the opportunity to win by scratching a latex play area.

From 1976 to 1985, a limited number of instant ticket games were launched. By 1986, scratch-offs were launched on a more frequent basis and today are launched each month. Scratch-offs now offer a variety of play styles, range from $1 to $30 and carry prizes of up to $2 million.
