YOU ASK … WE ANSWER

Have a question about your Lottery vending equipment? Check here for frequently asked questions and answers. Your district sales manager also can help you with vending machine questions.

Does the PHD/PEX have an alarm system?

Yes. There are two alarms on the PHD/PEX. If the handle to open the door is lifted, the alarm sounds for a few seconds. Also, if someone tampers with the PHD/PEX, it sounds a “tilt alarm” for up to 10 seconds. Both alarms stop automatically; you do not need to enter a code.

Does the machine tell you when paper is low?

Yes. There is an indicator on the ticket stock (black stripe) to show when the paper is low. Also, a message will display on the screen when the paper runs out.

PEX Lottery vending machineCan I cancel any ticket from the PHD/PEX?

No. However, a customer can cancel most draw tickets with the retailer at the counter terminal before the draw starts, except for 5 Card Cash and jackpot games. These games cannot be canceled for any reason.

What happens if I lose both sets of keys to the machine?

You will be charged for a new set of keys for the PHD/PEX. You must contact your Lottery district manager and call the SGI hotline to get a replacement.

Can you activate scratch-offs at the PHD/PEX?

No. You cannot activate or receive scratch-offs at the PHD/PEX. Do so at the counter terminal. You must activate instant tickets before placing them in the PHD. The PHD will allow you to load inactive books in the machine and players will not be able to cash their scratch-off prizes. This does not apply to the PEX, which doesn’t sell instant tickets.

What happens when you press the deposit button on the PHD/PEX?

Once the deposit button is pressed, a report is generated, the machine balance is set to zero and a new session will begin. The PHD/PEX machines are not able to print out deposit reports from previous sessions. Please note that the same report cannot be reprinted.

Do I have to take the cash out when I press “yes” after pressing the deposit button?

Yes. If you don’t remove the cash and someone makes a purchase, your accounting will not balance. When you press “yes” after pressing the deposit button, the dollar amount is zeroed out and you will receive these printouts: 1) Shift Sales Report and 2) Deposit Receipts.

PHD vending machineCan deposit reports be generated for previous sessions?

No. Deposit reports cannot be generated for previous sessions. Previous deposit transactions are not stored on the machine after the deposit function is performed. No. You cannot purchase draw games between the hours of 2 a.m.–5 a.m.; only scratch-offs are available (PHD only; PEX does not sell instant tickets). Also, no vouchers can be issued during this time so purchases must be the exact dollar amount.

Can FAST PLAY tickets be canceled?

No. FAST PLAY games cannot be canceled as there is no drawing and the results are instantly determined at the time of purchase.

What are event reports?

These reports show in detail what transactions took place on the PHD/PEX.

Does the PHD/PEX give change?

No. Instead of issuing change, the machine gives players a voucher to use at any Lottery location or to take to a counter terminal to get cash. Also, no vouchers cannot be issued from the PHD/PEX between the hours of 2 a.m.- 5 a.m.

Can you redeem a voucher from another retailer?
